Made of recycled copper and steel wire in Kisumu, Kenya, this pair of bicycle earrings represents the most common mode of transportation in Western Kenya. Called "boda boda" by the locals, bicycles are used as public transportation (you ride on a padded rack on the back) and are named for the bikes used to transport people across the border between Uganda and Kenya -- from border to border.

TEMAK
The Teenage Mothers and Girls Association of Kenya (TEMAK) provides job training in tailoring, hairdressing, secretarial skills, craft making and computer skills to unmarried mothers, girls and others from the Obunga slums. This organisation provides the community with an educational forum for HIV/AIDS awareness as well as the dangers of female genital mutilation. Many of the young women at TEMAK participate in making crafts, thereby earning an income to support themselves and their families.
